      Charles Ellison Cale, 74, died Nov. 14, 2004, after a long bout with Alzheimer's disease. He was born Oct. 27, 1930 in Wichita, Kan. to Ford Ellison Cale and Dorothy Hanne Cale Harris.

      He attended elementary and high schools in Bucklin, Kan., graduating in 1948. In 1962, he received a bachelor of science degree in physics from Washburn University, Manhattan, Kan.

      In 1979, he earned a second master's degree in electrical engineering from Arizona State University. During this time, he worked as a journeyman lineman and as an electrical engineer for public utility companies in Kansas and Arizona. He was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He retired from the Salt River Project in 1989 and moved to Payson to build a new home.

      Mr. Cale enjoyed hunting, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. When he was in his 50s, he ran numerous 10K races, and the Phoenix marathon three times.
