      Eugene Eean McNaughton III Eugene Eean McNaughton III succumbed to Cancer and departed this world on July 23, 2015 at 3:40am, at the age of 60. He was living with his family in Independence Missouri. His devoted wife of 28 years, Rhonda Ripp McNaughton, was with him when he died. He is survived by his Father, Eugene Eean McNaughton Jr. and his Mother, Joan Alva Lucas McNaughton, two brothers Scott Duncan McNaughton and Clifton Beardsfield McNaughton, one son Eean Alexander McNaughton, three daughters Lindsey Elizabeth McNaughton Stewart, Margaret Aileen McNaughton (Maggie)Tianna McNaughton Foster, two Step Daughters, Patricia Kidd Mansell, her daughters Aletha Maylee Mansell and Adelaide Orion Mansell, Rhoni Kidd and her children Mikayla Joann Bullard, William Robert Bullard and Ervey BoUrias as well as a slew of uncles, aunts and cousins. Mr. McNaughton was known in his family as 'Jack' and by others as Eean. He was a native of New Orleans, born on January 23, 1955 and lived most of his life in New Orleans. He was educated first in J. C. Ellis Elementary, followed by Karr Jr. High and Walker High School. From 1975-79 he attended The University of New Orleans. He was selected to attend the UNO International Summer School at Universidad Innsbruck, Austria in 1976. Studies included European Art and Architecture and Germanic Languages. From 1982-85 Jack attended The University of Southwestern Louisiana School of Architecture and Design. He moved for a period of time to Missouri where he attended Drury College School of Architecture, Springfield, Missouri, 1989-90. In 1990 he was admitted to The Tulane School of Architecture on a Joseph A. Breaux Scholarship for Academic Excellence. During his studies at Tulane he was on the Dean'sList. He graduated from Tulane with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree in 1994. He later received a Masters Degree in 2004, awarded to all Tulane graduates with Bachelor Degrees. Jack apprenticed in his father's firm, E. Eean McNaughton and Associates, Architects, working part-time and during summers beginning in 1975. He gained experience in design, measured drawings, field documentation specifications and construction drawings for residential, public buildings and historic buildings. Notable projects included The Louisiana Nature and Science Center in Joe Brown Memorial Park, Restoration and Adaptive Use of the Old United States Mint in the View Carrere on Esplanade Avenue. In the Summer of 1989, Jack lead a group, conducting field documentation and preparation of measured drawings and construction documents for the Cecil B. Moore Low Income Housing Project in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania requiring restoration and modern improvements to a block of thirty-one 19thcentury masonry row houses resulting in the creation of 80 units of affordable housing. After graduating from Tulane he joined the firm fulltime as Senior Project Designer with responsibilities for collaboration on all aspects of Planning, Programming, Pre-Design, Design, Contract Documents and a host of Architectural Services. Notable examples of projects included Benjamin Franklin Senior High School, The Old Louisiana State Capitol Restoration and Adaptive Use, Baton Rouge, Russell B. Long Federal Building and Courthouse, Baton Rouge, John M. Shaw Federal Building and United States Courthouse, Lafayette, First Baptist Church New Orleans and United States Pavilion for the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition. During his tenure with E. Eean McNaughton Architects Jack was dedicated to serving the needs and aspirations of clients and achieving architectural excellence.The Projects listed were awarded an Honor Award for Excellence in Architecture. Jack was an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects serving on the National Committee on Design and National committee on the Environment. Jack loved to be in the great outdoors fishing, sailing and enjoying the natural environment. He was an accomplished chef preparing delicious meals for himself and sharing many with his parents, family and friends. He had a talent for writing and composition and applied it to his work. He had a deep interest in current events, art, history, astronomy and archeology, visiting museums and historic buildings and sites during his travels in the United States, Mexico and Europe. He was an accomplished musician learning to play the piano at an early age, winning a number of competitions. He was a self taught string and later electric guitar player, first in garage bands and later with groups paid for events. He loved his children. He encouraged Eean Alexander to join the Boy Scouts of America, beginning as a Tiger Cub Scout and progressing with a current rank of 'Life'and very close to obtaining, 'Eagle Scout'. Margaret wrote, "He taught me how to fish, how to cook, how to grow a garden, how to navigate. He taught me about the stars, and I remember him waking me up late at night to take me to the backyard and tell me about the constellations and planets." Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service, October 15, 2015 in the Chapel of Saint Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church 1554 State St. New Orleans, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm and service will begin at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 221, in honor of Eean Eugene McNaughton III would be gratefully accepted.
