WANDA NADINE (OLSON) KLEPEL, age 74, of Grand Rapids, MN, departed this world to be with her Lord and Savior on March 26, 2015 at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN, surrounded by her loving children.

She blessed this world with her presence on February 5, 1941 to Elmer and Dorothy Olson at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Brainerd, MN.

Wanda graduated from Bloomington High School on June 3, 1959 and then began her dedicated career as a nursing assistant that lasted 42 years. This career was dedicated to the elderly in Grand Rapids and on November 5, 2001, she retired from Evergreen Terrace Nursing Home. Wanda felt a huge need to help and protect her daughter after she had been diagnosed with a disabling disease and was faithful doing this until her sudden departure from here.

Wanda found her true love and she married Ernest Clarence Klepel on February 14, 1964 until his sudden death on March 1, 1966. She was lucky enough to find love again and on June 30, 1967, she married Walter Gustav Klepel. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Roxann, Robert and Pamela. They also had the gift of one grandson, Mathew.

Wanda loved spending time with her family. She cheered at everything they accomplished and cried with them when they felt they failed. She pushed them to never give up. We love you too, Mom!

She had amazing faith in God. She was famous for her motto “God will get us thru.”, and she lived her life by that motto; even instilling it into her children. Her faith shined when she was doing volunteer work. She had a driving passion for helping others which she did by helping make sure people had food at the local food shelf or making scarves for RSVP. She often helped when needed at church.

Wanda’s hobbies were sewing, knitting and crocheting. She loved to brag that her kids never wore a store bought pair of mittens and that she sewed their clothes when they were young. She also enjoyed reading, and watching television, and enjoyed

Wheel of Fortune, The Price Is Right and HGTV the most. She was a stitch when wrestling was on, enjoying Hornswaggle, her favorite!

Wanda will be greeted in Heaven by her husbands; parents; and brother, Terry Tjader.

Wanda leaves behind to cherish her, her children, Roxann (Richard), Robert (Jeanne) and Pamela; grandson, Mathew; brother, Eldon (Joyce) Olson; sister, Beth Olson (Susan Maijala); numerous nieces and nephews, who blessed her life; her furry kid dogs, Jack and Shadow; cats, Dawn and Tigger; and her grandpuppies, Katy and Miley.

Per Wanda’s wishes, donations can be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Grand Rapids Food Shelf.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 2nd from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, MN. Rev. Greg DeMuth will officiate.

Inurnment, at a later date, will be in Itasca-Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
