Marvin Bernard Klepel, age 80, of Grand Rapids, MN and formerly of Richfield, MN, went home to his Lord and Savior on October 31, 2014 at Grand Village Nursing Home in Grand Rapids, MN, surrounded by his loving family.
Marv was born in 1934 in Odessa, MN to Herman and Sophie (Vangsness) Klepel, the youngest of 14 children. He always had a strong faith and this lead him to take many mission trips to foreign countries where he assisted with the building of churches. His faith stayed strong even after he started having strokes. Marvin’s love for building, lead him into the construction field where he worked as a brick tender. He worked for a small company until they moved out of state. Marv then followed his love of children and got a job as a janitor with the Richfield School District. He worked this job until he retired. Marvin married Naomi June (Thompson) Ashling on April 2, 1960 in Bloomington, MN, and was married to Naomi until her death in 2008. He raised her children, Lloyd, Julie, and Steven. Marv enjoyed watching TV especially NCIS because he had a crush on Abby. He loved western movies and reading westerns. He really loved spending time with family and was very close to all his nieces and nephews. Marv moved back to Grand Rapids in 2012 due to health issues.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Naomi; two step-sons; one step-daughter; one step-grandson; parents; 11 brothers; two sisters.
Marvin is survived by his special sister-in-law, Wanda Klepel; nieces, Pamela Klepel, Roxann (Rick) Dressel; nephew, Robert (Jeanne) Klepel; great-nephew, Mathew Klepel; and many more nieces and nephews.
Burial at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MN.
