      Lorraine Mavis Grimsbo, age 90, of rural Lake Mills, died on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

      A memorial service will be held for Lorraine at a later date this summer with inurnment at Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Scarville, Iowa.

      Lorraine Mavis (Stalheim) Grimsbo was born June 1, 1928 to Nels and Karine (Hagen) Stalheim in Bristol township, Worth County, Iowa. She was baptized July 1, 1928 at Somber Evangelical Lutheran Church and confirmed there on August 23, 1942.

      Lorraine began first grade in the Silver Lake County School #6. She attended thru the 8th grade. Lorraine graduated from Bethany Lutheran High School in Mankato, Minnesota, in 1946. Since she always wanted to be a teacher, she attended the Minnesota Teacher’s Training Dept. in Wells, MN, where she earn her teacher’s certificate. Lorraine taught Country School in Freeborn County for 6 years prior to her marriage.

      On June 20, 1952 Lorraine was united in marriage to Paul Ingvald Grimsbo at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN. They had two children Pamela and Channing. Later, Lorraine returned to college to further her education attending both Mason City Junior College and Mankato State College. She returned to teaching as the 4th grade teacher for Emmons Public School where she taught for 16 years. During that time she was honored as Teacher of the Year for Freeborn County. Lorraine left teaching to farm full time with her husband, Paul, and father-in-law, Ingvald.

      Lorraine was active at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville, IA, in WELCA, women’s Bible study, as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and served on Altar Guild. She was a charter member in the Nordic Lodge Sons of Norway and the Sunnfjord Organization. After retirement Lorraine enjoyed mowing her lawn and caring for her flower garden. Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

      Surviving Lorraine are her daughter Dr. Pamela (Dr. Terry) Kapple of Parnell, IA, her son Channing (Elisabeth) Grimsbo of Indianola, IA; five grandchildren, Benjamin Kapple of Parnell, IA, Tate Kapple of Spokane, WA, Sarah (John) Pierce of Evansville, IN, Brant Kapple of Manhattan, NY, and Lydia Grimsbo of Indianola, IA; and one great-granddaughter Hannah Pierce. She is also survived by her sister Leona Bjelland and brother Norlan (Betty) Stalheim both of Albert Lea, MN; a sister-in-law Eleanor Dille of Newton, IA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

      Lorraine was preceded in death are her husband Paul, parents Nels and Karine, sister Katherine Varland, and brothers Kenton and Donald Stalheim,
