When Milo was seven years old, the family moved from a farm in Plato, Minnesota, to Blackduck where he completed his schooling. He graduated from Blackduck High School in 1946. He attended the University of Minnesota where studied Business Administration. While there he met Pat Cain while working at Bridgeman’s Ice Cream Parlor in Southeast Minneapolis. They married on July 8, 1950, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Minneapolis.
