Mr. Eldon L. Capes, 73, of South Haven, died Friday, February 25, 2000 at the Annandale Care Center, where he has been a resident the past five months.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at the Church of Christ, Kimball with Pastor Jerry Albert officiating. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Cemetery, Fair Haven Township, Stearns County with military rites provided by South Haven VFW Post #7332. Friends called from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and may call one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. There was a prayer service 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel in Kimball. Memorials are preferred to the Church of Christ, Kimball.
He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Steven and Debi of Kimball, Susan and John Laird of Webster City, Iowa, Terry and Bonnie of South Haven, Tricia and Mac McMillen of South Haven, 10 grandchildren, Chris, Cassie, Ashley, Brett, Heather, Jared, Joshua, Tabitha, Andrew, and Spencer, sister, Marjorie Schauer of South Haven, brothers and their wives, Merton and Sandy of Brooksville, Fla., Bud and Toots of Kimball, brothers and sister-in-law, Ray Bruns of Annandale, Lee and Bonnie Hoskins of Kimball.
He was preceded in death by his wife, sister, Virginia Bruns, and brothers-in-law, Lewis Schauer and David Hoskins.
Eldon L. Capes was born April 17, 1926 to William and Lenora (Bremer) Capes in Fair Haven Township, Stearns County where he lived and farmed his entire lifetime. He married Doris L. Hoskins September 8, 1956 in Kimball and she preceded him in death on November 29, 1996. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of South Haven VFW Post #7332 and the Church of Christ, where he was a former elder.
Pallbearers: Paul Anderson, Ross Dickie, Richard Eckman, Gary Resch, Darrel Wills and Wilbert Wylie.
His ten grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
