Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 5, from Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, for Carl Walfred Olson, 63, lifelong area resident, who was dead on arrival at the Kenmare Deaconess hospital Friday evening.
Rev. Arlyn Norris officiated at the service. Mrs. John Larson was organist and Bud Carlson, vocalist.
Serving as pallbearers were Russell Anderson, Marlyn King, Loren Bomstad, Eskil Swenson, Don Nore and Don Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Holger Lehman, Ingvard Iverson, Orville Johnson, Marvin Gravesen, Tracy Eckert, Warren Harris, Clifford Gleave and Dave Coons.
Interment was made in Lakeview Cemetery.
Mr. Olson was born April 16, 1916, at Coulee to Simon and Amerlia Gustafson Olson. He was reared in that area and on May 25, 1946, married Donna Davick at Glascow, Mt. They farmed in Lowland township, Mountrail County until 1962, when they moved to Kenmare, where they operated a bakery for several years. In 1968, they purchased the building presently housing Olson Apartments in Kenmare.
He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Rickey A. of Denver, Colo., Donn W. of Mishawaka, Ind., and Lee L. a student at NDSU, Fargo; a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Paula) Knutson of Ethelbert, Sask.; two brothers, Lewis Olson of Kenmare and Duane Olson of Denver, Colo.; six sisters, Mrs. Bernice Omlid, Miss Pauline Olson and Mrs. Elva Brennan, all of Redding, Ca., Mrs. Alvira Cook of Sacramento, Ca., Mrs. Eleanor Schmaltz of Casper, Wyo., and Mrs. Isabelle Grenvik of Minot; and two grandchildren.
