Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Stanley. Visitation is Friday, January 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Springan Funeral Home, Stanley.

Jerome Roger Jensen was born on August 24, 1930, to Edward and Florence (Flint) Jensen in Stanley, ND. Jerome was raised in Stanley, graduating from Stanley High School in 1949 and would live most of his life in his beloved city.

After high school, Jerome attended Telegraphy school in Minneapolis, after which he worked in ND until he was drafted into the army. Jerome was stationed at Camp Gordon, Georgia, and then was sent to Germany for a year of service in the Signal Corps. While in Europe, Jerome began a life-long love of travel and visited Paris as well as the birthplace of his father in Denmark. Following his honorable discharge, Jerome attended Minot State University for one year. He married Patricia Davick on June 19, 1955. Together they moved to Indianapolis, where Jerome attended mortuary school and became a licensed mortician. After graduating, Jerome and Pat moved back to Stanley where they have lived since. Jerome worked at Springan Furniture and Springan Funeral Home until he retired and briefly continued working in his own custom drapery business.

Jerome was a Boy Scout leader, taught Sunday school, always sang in choirs, and served on the church council. He was also a youth leader in the church. He was a member of the Jaycees and was a charter member of the Swing and Twirl Square Dance Club. Jerome was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and later took up bowling. One of his greatest pleasures was sharing Lake Sakakawea with his grandchildren and teaching them to fish. Jerome and Pat continued to travel all over, with a special love for visiting family in Whitefish Montana. Jerome and Pat also visited Spain as part of a store trip and later took two separate trips to Mexico.

Jerome enjoyed listening to music, especially taking great joy listening to his grandchildren when visiting Bismarck numerous times over the years listening to their recitals, school concerts and just sitting in the chair for private concerts. He also took great pleasure in his birds, taking pride in his bird feeders and watching for his beloved finches.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, two daughters, two grandsons, and three siblings. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and sisters and brothers in law.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, son, David, and brother, Bill.
