Born in Stanley, North Dakota on July 27, 1953 to Robert and Dorothy (Faircloth) Nore . She was the fourth born of six children. Growing up, the family lived mostly in Stanley, with some short times in Whitefish, Montana. She graduated from Stanley Severson High School in 1971, and moved to Rapid City, South Dakota. She returned to North Dakota after the Rapid City flood of 1972.
She married Frank Borchardt on January 10, 1975, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. They lived in South Carolina, Guam, and Louisiana. She received her CNA certificate while in Louisiana. She and Frank divorced after nine years of marriage, and she moved back to Stanley. She raised her son (Scott) and two daughters (Kelly and Megan). After a couple of years, Scott went to live with his father. She worked at Joyce's Cafe and Carol's Crafty Cottage before she took a CNA position at Mountrail County Bethel home in 1986. She loved working the graveyard shift and loved her co-workers. In 2001 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was a hard worker, dedicated to her job, only taking a month off work during her cancer treatments. She worked at MCBH for 17 years.
She was declared cancer free in 2003 and moved to Minot to be closer to her mom, Dorothy. Together they would go thrift shopping and hit up the garage sales. They made many trips to Jamestown to visit her sister, Laura. Laura passed in 2017. Mom made sure that grandma was taken care of until Dorothy passed in 2009. She started working at Trinity Nursing Home in 2004 and worked there until the Minot flood of 2011. She then started working at Marketplace Foods in the deli. She made many friends there and would often meet up with co-workers for coffee. She quit Marketplace Foods in 2014. Her heart was always in the place to help others and she always had an open ear, free from judgement. She took a position working at RSI, working with drug addiction recovery residents. In 2016 she underwent a heart valve replacement surgery. Her recovery was long, complicated, and difficult, but she was soon back to work at RSI. On her days off she would babysit her granddaughters. If she was fortunate to be home, she would babysit Peanut, who she affectionately referred to as her Granddogger. She retired from RSI in March of 2020. She continued to babysit her granddaughters, helped to homeschool them, up until this past spring. They were her light and joy. She enjoyed teaching them, playing silly games, and telling stories. Most of all she loved holding them and telling them how special they were to her.
Mom was kind, loving, and patient. She made sure her family was taken care of, even if it meant she went without. She had a giving heart of gold. Mom was always there with an open ear for her children, no matter the time of day or night. She was her daughters' best friend. Mom was proud of all her children and grandchildren. She endured many hardships and was never one to give up. She loved listening to music and going on short road trips, thrift shopping and garage sales. She was a hard worker and made sure to make work fun. Mom was a light for many. Mom had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor and was always able to find the humor in any situation. She passed away in the early morning of her 68th birthday on July 27, 2021 at Mountrail County Health Center in Stanley. She had her children by her side and her granddogger in her lap.
Mom is deeply missed, forever loved, and always in our hearts. Galatians 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
