Marjorie Ann Aamodt (Christensen) Ribe died at her residence at El Castillo in Santa Fe, March 6, 2021 following a life devoted to family, friends, and adventures.
Marjorie was born April 4, 1928 in Crookston, MN the daughter of Arne and Carrie (Brown) Aamodt. She grew up in Bemidji, MN and graduated from Fargo High School. She attended North Dakota State University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics Education in 1950. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She taught in Denver, CO and Kenmare, ND and was a Home Economist in business in Minneapolis prior to settling down in Kenmare.
She married L.D. (Lee) Christensen in Fargo on February 18, 1956. While raising three children, Marge was involved in church, youth, and community activities including PEO, State Red Cross, ND Council on the Arts from 1978-83, and ND-NAMI chapter state President in 1991. She earned the Distinguished Director Award from The Mental Health Association of ND in 1987.
Marge loved adventure whether it was downhill skiing, riding a camel, or whitewater rafting. It was all about experiencing what life had to offer while traveling the world. Upon Lee's death in 1996, Marjorie continued her adventures where she met Fred Ribe while skiing in Colorado. They were married September 21, 2000 in Dillon, CO, the place they first met. They continued to travel abroad and enjoyed many ski trips together until Fred's passing in June 2019
Marjorie is survived by her children, David Christensen, Grand Forks, ND; Jill (Timothy) Carlson, Laguna Vista, TX; Kirk Christensen, Kenmare, ND; four grandchildren, Erin (Van) Allen, Courtney (Steve) Hoikkala, Mallory (Trevor Stevens) Carlson, Iver Christensen; and three great grandchildren, Gunnar Allen, Macer Allen and Harper Hoikkala; sister Charlotte Erickstad, and brother-in-law Walt Christensen.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Santa Fe, NM and Memorial Service in Kenmare, ND both pending.
