      Maynard E. Wedwick

WESTBY - Maynard E. Wedwick, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 24, 2022. He was born on September 30, 1936 to Peter and Lois (Cox) Wedwick, and raised on the family farm in rural Viroqua. Maynard was a 1955 graduate of Viroqua High School.

In 1956, Maynard married Susanne Ekum, and in 1980 they opened the Old Towne Inn Supper Club in Westby. He and Susie later divorced.

Maynard was employed as a Utility Lineman for many years, working for Vernon Electric Coop, and North Borough Slope in Alaska, before retiring in 1997. Maynard married Maryann Fruin in 1995, and they enjoyed traveling to auctions and wintering in Texas. He was a member of the National Guard and was involved with the Vernon County Fair for many years. Maynard was incredibly kind and would lend a hand to anyone. He will be sadly missed.

Maynard is survived by his wife, Maryann; sons: Bradley (Annette) and Craig (Roxy); and a special granddaughter, Abbey. Further survivors include his brother, Raymond; niece Kristi (Craig) Fortun; and nephew Corey (Jana) Wedwick; granddaughter-in-law Siri Wedwick; former spouse, Susie Wedwick; step-daughers: Lisa Antony, Tammi (Karl) Yanzer, and Tracee Farmer; four step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Lois; his son, Kurt; grandson, Justin; nephew, Mark; and sister-in-law, Marilyn.
