Kevin Hoyt
Nov. 30, 1956-March 14, 2006
Age: 49
Residence: Greeley and Littleton
Tribute: Kevin Earl Hoyt
was born in Aberdeen, Wash., to Dick and Von Hoyt.
Mr. Hoyt graduated from Ephrata High School in 1975. He served in the Army out of high school and later continued his education at Washington State University. While at Washington State, he played college football, but injured his knee severely ending his career at WSU. The following year he transferred to Eastern Washington University. His love of football never ceased.
After moving to Colorado in 1981 to work on his brother-in-laws farm, he met Kenna Collins. They married and had a daughter. His daughter, Jessa Hoyt, became the love in his life with football not far behind.
Over the years, Mr. Hoyt worked in shipping and transportation management, while also coaching high school football. The students at the schools knew him as Hoyt. He coached at Eaton High School, Greeley West High School and Littleton High School over the course of his life. Wherever he moved, football was there. He also coached basketball and track.
His adoration for sports and most importantly, the kids he coached, showed through in his continual encouragement and patience. He had a talent for believing in people and taking the time to show the fun in life. As stubborn and serious as he could be, he could make anyone he met smile in seconds. Everyone wanted to be his friend.
Even at the age of 49, Mr. Hoyt never lost his childish enthusiasm.
He loved roughhousing with his nephews, hanging out with his niece, and joking around with his family and friends. Living his last months close to home made his life all the more enjoyable. He was a gracious father, loving son, endearing brother, caring coach, and overall, an incredible human being.
He died of a heart attack Tuesday while taking a nap at his sisters home in Greeley.
Survivors: His daughter, Jessa Hoyt of Greeley; his parents, Dick and Von Hoyt of Ephrata, Wash.; a younger brother and his wife, Ken and Diana Hoyt of Waterville, Wash.; an older sister and her husband, Pam and Paul Hungenberg of Greeley; a niece, Kathy Hungenberg of Greeley; six nephews, Jared, Jason and Jordan, all of Greeley, and Chad, Alex and Dawson Hoyt of Waterville; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins from Washington state and his special friends, Chad and Deanna Koepke of Littleton.
