Norma passed from this world to be with her Lord on Friday, November 14, 2014 at her home in Britton at the age of 72.

Norma Jean Buhl was born May 5, 1942 in Britton, SD to Elvin and Erna (Madsen) Buhl. She grew up on the farm with her two brothers, Leroy and Harvey Buhl. Norma attended country school, Britton High School and Ellendale, ND College.

She and Orene Wade were married and had two children, Lana and Lynn Wade. Later, Norma and the children moved to Oakes, ND. She met and married Lloyd Frojen, a widower with six children. They had two children together, Lachelle and Lynette Frojen. Together, they operated a floor covering business for 20 years. She served as an E.M.T on the ambulance squad, as well as helping in her church and Sunday School.

Norma moved to Aberdeen sometime later. There she joined the American Red Cross and went on many disaster relief missions over the next 14 years.

She met Dean Fisher and they were married. They lived in his family farm northwest of Britton. Norma recruited Dean to become a Red Cross volunteer as well. She suffered a heart attack in 2003. Dean sold the farm and they moved into Britton in 2005. Norma’s love of people inspired her to take a job as a nurse’s aide in Britton and she also become a hospice volunteer. Norma helped with the Head Start program and was also a foster grandparent at school for almost five years, until failing health made it necessary for her to curtail her volunteer work. She currently was delivering the Aberdeen American News in Britton.

Norma enjoyed her family and friends. She loved to play the organ and piano, was an avid reader and an excellent baker. She greatly enjoyed helping someone in need, or just visiting with friends and family.

Preceding her in death were her brother, Leroy Buhl, her parents and a step-daughter, Michelle Fisher.

Left to meet her again are her four children: Lana (Duane) Ridl, Lynn (Carmin) Wade, Lachelle Frojen, Lynette (Cory) Burley; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Harvey (Karen) Buhl, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
