Anne Kildal 1863-1942
Mrs. Elling Kildal, a pioneer resident of Clearwater County, died at her home on Thursday, November 5, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. She had been failing in health most of the summer, her condition gradually getting weaker and she spent the last 6 weeks in bed.
She was at the time of her death 79 years and 28 days old. Mrs. Kildal was born in Norfjord, Norway, on October 8, 1863, and came to the United States in 1887. Here she met and married Elling Kildal in 1890. They then settled in Norman County near Rindal where they lived 5 years, then moving to Clearwater County to the farm they have lived on since. She was a member of the Landstad Lutheran Church, also one of the first members of the Landstad ladies Aid. Her one great desire in life was to do the will of God and be a help to others when in need. She was a loving and kind wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services were held at the Landstad Free Church November 10. "Rock of Ages: was sung by the ladies chorus. Rev. Jerstad spoke in the Norwegian language and also sang, "Den Store Hvide Flok Vi Se." Mrs. Nels Johnson of Clearbrook sang one of Mrs. Kildal's favorite songs, "Han Skal Opme Perleporten," Rev. A.P. Anderson spoke in the English language and the ladies chorus sang, "Skal Vi Mades Hist Ved Floden." Many beautiful floral offering, also memorial gifts, were given in her memory.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Elling Kildal, Hans Kildal of Lengby, Alfred of Shevlin, (Clara) Mrs. Elias Strandlien of Shevlin, Pvt. Edwin Kildal at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, (Alma) Mrs. William Blomdahl at home, and 13 grandchildren. - [DA-001] Digital Arkivet, (Arkivverket), https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/8/pe00000000677957.
