Funeral services for Arne Isane of Badger, MN will be held at 10AM, Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church south of Badger. Visitation will be on Friday, from 5-7PM with a 7PM Prayer service at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Interment will be at the Nannestad Cemetery.

Arne was born on the family farm in Isane, Nordfjord, Norway on June 11, 1935 to Sigurd and Anna Isane. He was raised and attended school there until he and his family immigrated to Minnesota in 1950 at the age of 14. He attended school in Badger for only a short time as he couldn't overcome the barrier of the English language. He then started his farming career until 1960 when he entered the U.S. Army where he served until 1962 at Ft. Hood, Texas. Before he was discharged, he was offered a spot on the US.Rifle Team. He was very honored, but that would require him to commit for one more year so he declined and returned to the farm. He then met and married Marlene (Thompson) on June 11, 1966. Together they raised their children, Shayne, Jason, Kari and Jamie for the next 50 years. Arne farmed in the earlier years with his father, Sigurd and brother, Olav, but they often were pursuing their talents of Carpentry and Sales. Arne was the full-time farmer of the group. He later farmed with his sons, Shane, Jason and Jamie. They also formed a trucking company for which he was an important leader. Arne was very active in both ventures until his stroke in 2008. He was dealt another blow in 2011, when he lost his son, Jason to cancer. He remained "The Boss" until his recent passing.

Arne was well known for his work ethic and drive to succeed. His passion for Cattle, Harvest, and Trucks was only matched later by his love for his family. They went hand and hand as working to support his family was his main priority. It seemed, that after having grandchildren, his wife and grandchildren became his greatest source of happiness. He didn't have many hobbies as work took center stage. He did enjoy hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing cards. He was also a big sports fan. He enjoyed especially the Minnesota Twins. He also followed the Vikings, Timberwolves, Badger Rockets, BGMR Gators and Roseau Rams. Hunting was a great source of pride for him as he used his well-known skill to single handedly keep the deer population in Nereson in check. He took great pride in his heritage and enjoyed hosting many family and friends from Norway. He always savored the chase to speak and sing his native Norwegian. Arne looked forward to and truly enjoyed their trips to Lake Havasu City, AZ, where they spent countless hours socializing with many of their friends.

Arne passed away at his home in Badger on April 2, 2016. He ia survived by his wife, Marlene Isane of Badger: children, Shayne (Denise) of Badger, Kari (Matt) Miller of Roseau, Jamie (Tina) of Badger; 9 grandchildren; Devyn (Shena) Brandt, Danielle Brandt, Madison Millner, Conner Millner, Isaak Isane, Tyler Isane, Jenessa Isane, Elliott Isane and Emmit Isane; Great-Grandchildren, HewItt and Laney; sister,
Dagrun Brotherston of Olympia, WA; sister-in-law, Betsey Isane of Brooten, MN. daughter-in-law, Julie Isane of Badger. He was preceded in death by his parents: son: Jason; siblings, Marta Heggedal, Oddlaug Isene, Ragnhild Herset and Olav Isane.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 10 AM at Faith Lutheran Church south of Badger. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5-7PM with a 7:00 Prayer service at Helgesson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Interment will be at the Nannestad Cemetery.
