This Peter Starkey shows up on Hottens's List (The Original Lists of Persons of Quality, Emigrants, Religious Exiles.... by John Camden Hotten, pub 1874, pp. 124-5) as having emigrated to VA on 16 Aug 1635, age 22, so seems to have been born about 1613. However, this age maybe wrong, as we will show some facts to establish he was actually the same as the Peter Starkey born 1604 in Flintshire, who md 1st to Ann Street. While she apparently died in Wales in 1658, and he lived there long enough to father several children by Ann, but at least by 1649 seems to be back in VA when named as a headright to both Stephen Gill & of Ralph Wormeley, both men of York Co, VA (Cavaliers & Pioneers: Abstracts of Virginia Land Patents & Grants 1623-1800, by Neil M. Nugent, vol 1, pp. 181-2).

He also is listed as a will witness in 1653 of Thomas Ray, also of York Co. This Thomas Ray md to Mary Christmas, a daughter of Doctoris Wm Christmas & his 1st wife Elizabeth. And it is had been thought by some that Peter Starkey's wife Bridget might have also been a daughter of this same Doctoris since Peter is named as his main legatee, as well as an overseer (along with Henry Freeman, when Doctoris wrote his will in 1654 York Co, VA. However, his 1st wife evidently still living as this time, and there is really no reason to believe that he had married this soon to Bridget since their eldest known child, Peter Starkey Jr, was not born until May 1662. Their youngest child was Mary Starkey born 14 Oct 1668 (both births found in the Charles parish register of York Co, VA) and Mary later married, as his 1st wife, to Anthony Robinson, only son of John Robinson and his wife Elizabeth Rooksby or Rouxby. The births of their 7 children, born bet 1685-1697 are also found recorded in the same parish register. When Peter Jr died without progeny in 1702 his will named his sister Mary's 2 surviving sons, John & Anthony Robinson Jr as the heirs of his land, but in addition he named other cousins among his legatees: namely, the 3 youngest surviving of the recently orphaned Moore children: Starkey, John & Ann Moore. It appears their mother, Amy/Ann (Parsons) widow of John Moore, (and she died but a few months after her husband did) was the daughter of John & Elizabeth (Starkey) Parsons. Based on Peter Jr Starkey referring to them as his cousins, we therefore recognize this Elizabeth Starkey as the oldest daughter of Peter and Ann (Street) Starkey, & thus his (1/2) sister as well. She and her husband John Parsons came to VA probably soon after her father came. And John Parsons will written in 1699, naming among his children, besides Amy More, Sarah Starkey (wife of Peter Jr) and Jane Robinson (2nd wife of the Anthony Robinson that Mary Starkey had married) shows just how closely tied the cousins were!
