Robert Sadler Hofeditz (“Bob”), 80, of Tacoma, Washington, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2018 with loved ones at his side. Born on May 6, 1938 in Tacoma, Washington to Robert Glen Hofeditz and Thelma Louise Sadler Hofeditz, Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Thomas Hofeditz.

He is survived by beloved partner Karen Monsen Forsythe, his daughters Kerry Lynn Hofeditz Beck and Kristin Hofeditz Roesser (Tom), his son Robert McDonald Hofeditz (Janelle), and his grandchildren Sofie, Tom, Grady and Lila. He is also survived by a beloved extended family including Karen’s sons Brent Richard Forsythe (Joanna) and Mathew Lee Forsythe (Annabel), her daughter Kathleen Marie Forsythe Goertz (Jim), and her grandchildren Dillon, Madison, Canaan, Mollee, Patience, Calvin, Mason, Izanna, Willow, Justice and Sage. Together we loved him dearly, treasured the happy times we shared and will cherish his memory forever.

Bob attended the University of Washington, where he was a member of the Husky baseball team, and a lifetime fan of all UW sports. In 1959, the team won the Pacific Coast Conference Northern Division Champions. It was the first Husky squad to qualify for the NCAA Baseball Regionals, falling just one game short of the College World Series. In 1996, the team was inducted into the Husky Hall of Fame. Following graduation, Bob had a long and interesting career in business, which involved frequent international travel, including a two-year assignment in Tokyo, Japan. This experience fostered an interest in the Japanese language and culture that continued throughout his life. He will be most remembered for his passion for sports, keen intellect, wonderful sense of humor and his unconditional love and kindness that touched all who knew him.

In accordance with his wishes, no funeral service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to the UW Baseball Program in memory of Bob Hofeditz and the 1959 Husky Baseball Team.
